This is the best vegetarian alternative to the meatball, however they are so delicious and such good value for money, that you should give them a try on a 'meat free Monday'
225g Tinned Chick Peas
1 large chopped onion
2 cloves of garlic
5-6 tbls fresh white breadcrumbs
1 beaten egg
1 tbls chopped fresh or dried Coriander
1 tbls chopped fresh or dried Parsley
Large pinch of ground cumin or tumeric
1/2 tsp baking powder
salt and ground black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Blend together all the ingredients other than the oil
Using wet hands, roll in to balls or patties, deep or shallow fry.
Serve in pitta breads with Yoghurt Dip
150g natural Yoghurt
2.5cms piece of cucumber, finely chopped
1 tbls chopped fresh mint
1 clove of garlic, crushed and chopped
Salt and black pepper to season
Mix all the ingredients together and refridgerate until needed.
